F. Peter Cundill, McGill alumnus and chairman emeritus of Mackenzie Cundill, passed away on January 24, 2011, in London, England.

A Montreal native with personal and professional ties to Vancouver, Cundill graduated from McGill with a bachelor of commerce degree in 1960 and went on to become one of the world's most successful investment managers. During a career that spanned more than 40 years, he earned many distinctions, including the Analysts' Choice Career Achievement Award as the greatest mutual fund manager of all time in 2001.

In 2008, Cundill gave generously to his alma mater to establish the Cundill International Prize in History, the world's most important non-fiction historical literature prize.

Members of the McGill community are invited to celebrate the life of Peter Cundill at a memorial service in Vancouver on May 16.
