Dr. Marla Shapiro is perhaps best known as a medical contributor for Canada AM and as a medical consultant for CTV National News and News Channel. In 2004, Dr. Shapiro was diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer. Her book, Life in the Balance: My Journey with Breast Cancer, is a national bestseller. Dr. Shapiro will share her personal story and talk about survivorship of cancer as a chronic disease.

She is editor of the publication Parents Canada and has a weekly blog on http://www.ctv.ca. Dr. Shapiro obtained her medical degree from McGill University (MDCM '79) and is certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and as a Specialist in Community Medicine. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and has her own family practice.

La Dre Shapiro a obtenu son diplôme de médecine de l'Université McGill en 1979 et est membre du Collège des médecins de famille du Canada et spécialiste en matière de médecine communautaire. Elle est professeure agrégée au département de médecine familiale et communautaire de l'Université de Toronto et a son propre cabinet de médecine.
En 2004, la Dre Shapiro a reçu un diagnostic de cancer du sein envahissant. Son livre, intitulé Life in the Balance: My Journey with Breast Cancer, remporte un grand succès à l'échelle du pays. La Dre Shapiro parlera de son expérience et de la survie au cancer comme maladie chronique.
