How can research in Latin America move beyond "taking data" and instead build real partnerships with communities?
What does it look like when we work with people rather than simply about them?
Join the McGill Latino Alumni Society for an inspiring and accessible conversation on rethinking research and engagement in Latin America. This panel brings together three outstanding McGill Latino Faculty members whose work connects experiences, communities, and public policy across the region.
Together, they will share stories from the field, reflect on ethical collaboration, and discuss how research in the region can contribute to more just and equitable futures.
After the panel, stay for a networking reception: a chance to reconnect with fellow McGill alumni, meet new members of our community, and continue the conversation in a relaxed setting.
This panel will explore questions such as:
- How can researchers build genuine partnerships with communities?
- What responsibilities should people have toward the people and places they study and work with?
- How can universities and alumni networks support more ethical and sustainable forms of engagement in Latin America?
