MAA Ottawa: Fall Hike in Gatineau Park
The McGill Alumni Association of Ottawa invites you to join us on a fall hike in the northern part of Gatineau Park (P16 Meech Creek Valley). Take this opportunity to reconnect and make new friends while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the National Capital Region in autumn.
The route will be from P16 in the Meech Creek Valley to Healey Cabin by taking trail 50. At the cabin, there will be places to stop and have a snack while chatting with your fellow hikers. Then we will return to P16 via trail 70 and the Cross Loop Road (using a covered bridge). The round trip will be about 11km with intermediate difficulty. Those interested can join us for lunch afterwards in Wakefield (food and beverages will be pay-as-you-go). This hike will be lead by Anders Sorensen who led last year's fall hike.
Please register in advance so we can contact you if there's is inclement weather and the hike is cancelled.
Meeting point: We plan to meet at 9:30 AM at P16 Parking Lot (Meech Creek Valley/Vallée-Meech) in Gatineau Park on Chemin-des-Pins. To get to the P16 parking lot, take Highway 5 north and take exit 21 (chemin de la Rivière).
What to bring: Proper footwear is recommended. Please dress appropriately for the forecasted weather. Bring sufficient water and snacks.
Carpooling: We encourage carpooling when possible, to maintain parking spaces for other park users. Please contact ottawa.alumni@mcgill.ca by Thursday, September 25 to arrange for carpooling.
