ONLINE: Russia's War on Ukraine: six months later

Thursday, August 25, 2022
12 PM to 1 PM EDT

Six months after its tanks and soldiers first crossed into Ukraine, the Russian invasion of its western neighbour shows no signs of abating. How have six months of war changed the calculus for the combatants? Is the West's resolve to support Ukraine at risk of falling victim to fatigue? And what, if any, pathways exist to bring this war to an end?

Join us at our next Made by McGill alumni webcast when we speak with two McGill professors whose research explores political and economic developments in Russia and post-Communist Europe, as well as a PhD law student who has found sanctuary at McGill after fleeing Russian missiles and bombs in her hometown of Kharkiv.

Featuring:

Kristy Ironside, Assistant Professor, Department of History and Classical Studies; historian of the Soviet Union and modern Russia.

Maria Popova, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science; Jean Monnet Chair in Europe and the Rule of Law.

Yuliia Holik, PhD student in International Law, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University; graduate research trainee, McGill University

Moderated by Derek Cassoff, Managing Director, Communications, University Advancement
