Join the McGill Law alumni community in Europe and the UK for a special virtual event presented by Mayer Brown. Hear insights from John Harrison, LLM'92, in a conversation moderated by Joydeep Sengupta, BCL/LLB'08, and hosted by Robert Leckey, Dean of the McGill Faculty of Law.

John has been General Counsel for Airbus since 2015 and is a member of the Airbus Executive Committee. Joydeep is Counsel with Mayer Brown in Paris, in the Compliance, Investigations, and Regulatory team.

They will talk about their respective Made by McGill stories and explore several fascinating topics, including the following: 
- The historic Airbus Deferred Prosecution Agreement, which is the largest foreign bribery settlement to date, and the first one involving authorities in France, the U.K. and the U.S. Global Investigations Review recognized the settlement as the "Most Important Development of the Year" for 2020, and John was named "Outstanding In-House Counsel of the Year."

About the speakers:

John Harrison has been Airbus' General Counsel since June 2015 and he is a member of the Airbus Executive Committee.  Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales, He completed his academic studies at McGill University and holds LLB (Hons) and LLM degrees. He began his career in 1991 at the international law firm Clifford Chance, working consecutively in their London, New York and Paris offices. He joined Airbus then Technip S.A., where he served as Group General Counsel and Member of the Group Executive Committee from 2007 to 2015. Prior to joining Technip, Mr. Harrison fulfilled various senior legal positions in Airbus companies over a ten-year period, culminating his tenure from 2003 to 2007 as General Counsel of the EADS Defence Division.

Admitted to the Paris, New York and Ontario (Canada) Bars, Joydeep Sengupta is a member of the Compliance, Regulatory and Investigations team of Mayer Brown's Paris office, within the Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. Joydeep focuses on cross-border litigation, compliance and enforcement matters for financial institutions and corporations, including the resolution of administrative and enforcement proceedings involving regulators and prosecutors. Joydeep has conducted internal investigations around the world, including in France, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, UK and the US. He received degrees in both civil and common law from McGill University, where he served as the book reviews editor of the McGill Law Journal. Under the High Patronage of Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, Joydeep was honored by L'autre cercle as one of 30 LGBT+ Leaders and Role Models at Work in France in 2020.
