Sustainability of Agriculture and Food Supply Chains: "Building Back Better" after COVID-19

Tuesday, September 8, 2020
7 PM to 8:15 PM EST

The A. Jean de Grandpré Distinguished Speaker Series is named in honour of McGill's Chancellor Emeritus, M. de Grandpré who served as Chancellor from 1984-1991 and was a long-standing member of the Board of Governors. An astute and visionary administrator, he brought these skills, together with his wisdom, clarity of thought, and persuasive logic, to the highest levels of leadership at McGill University.
Moderated by Dean Anja Geitmann, our speakers Professor Nii Addy Associate Director (Africa Outreach)/Senior Outreach Advisor, Office of the Deputy Provost, Student Life and Learning, McGill University, Professor Evan Fraser Director, Arrell Food Institute, University of Guelph and Professor Aurélie Harou McGill University, will speak to how the COVID-19 pandemic has raised concerns about many aspects of society, one of which is the sustainability and security of our food supply.
The restarting of our economy gives us an opportunity to think of ways in which our systems for production, processing, and distribution of food can be "built back better" to be more economically, socially, and ecologically sustainable.
