Road to 200: Is it time to change the way we think about concussions? (New York)

Wednesday, October 24, 2018
6 PM to 8 PM EST
Mild traumatic brain injuries are among the most common neurological conditions, afflicting up to 3.8 million Americans a year, according to some estimates. And yet there is a pressing need for more education and awareness of the symptoms and the important interventions required following a concussion.
Alumni, friends and students are invited to join us as we bring together two McGill experts and New York's own Mike Richter, former New York Ranger and National Hockey League all-star, for a timely discussion about the diagnosis and long-term effects of concussions, and how McGill's research is changing the way we think about brain injuries.
Featuring:
- Dr. Angela Genge, MedResident'93, Director of the ALS Clinical Research program and Clinical Research Unit at McGill's Montreal Neurological Institute.
- Dr. Alain Ptito, BA'75, Neuropsychologist and Director, Department of Psychology, McGill University Health Centre and Professor, Neurology/Neurosurgery, McGill University and Montreal Neurological Institute.
- Mike Richter, former New York Rangers goaltender, Stanley Cup winner and U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member.
Moderator: Jason Chung, BA'06, BCL/LLB'14, Senior Research Scholar, NYU School of Professional Studies, NYU Sports and Society
