Homecoming: Beatty Memorial Lecture
Séries de Conférences commémoratives Beatty

Thursday, October 12, 2017
5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Since 1952, the Beatty Memorial Lecture Series has brought some of the world's leading thinkers to campus for a captivating public talk. The presenters also spend time meeting and exchanging ideas in smaller settings with faculty and students.

This year, the Beatty Memorial Lecture presents "The Challenge of Regressive Democracy" with Professor Emeritus Charles Taylor, winner of the 2016 Berggruen Prize. In the wake of the 2016 United States election, Professor Charles Taylor, one of the most insightful and renowned political philosophers of our time, delivers the 2017 Beatty Memorial Lecture, The Challenge of Regressive Democracy. Join Professor Taylor as he explores how the populist appeal can transform the politics of a society, and how defenders of democracy can restore faith in contemporary government.
