Toronto Leacock Luncheon (Toronto alumni branch)
John Moore distinguished himself early on as a witty and unforgiving critic. No form of media was safe from his blistering assessments, in both official languages, which soon targeted radio, film, stage and the game of Peek-a-boo. So like most bright and talented people from his hometown of Montreal, he eventually moved to Toronto, where he promptly pioneered the short-and-sweet “Escalator Movie Review” on Global TV.
Since then, Moore has taken the television world by storm with a fishing show; Mystery Ink, a program showcasing works by Canadian authors; and Guy Stuff, which is about...well, guy stuff. In 2003, he hijacked a drive-time radio show on CFRB-1010 and rechristened it with the highly original title, The John Moore Show. He’s also been known to print his feelings in the National Post, and it was there that he recently engaged in a verbal duel with Conrad Black, an exchange best described as Dictionary WrestleMania.

The McGill Alumni Association of Toronto is pleased to invite alumni, family and friends to the 15th Annual Leacock Luncheon, featuring actor, director and broadcaster John Moore as lecturer and guest of honour. The legendary Derek Drummond, BArch’62, will host the always-hilarious event this year.
Young alumni can have a hard time affording gala events like the Leacock Luncheon, and so the next generation often misses out on the fun. If you are interested in sponsoring a recent grad to attend the Leacock Luncheon and sit at your table, please contact us.
Tables of 10 can be purchased for $500.
