Details
Is it possible to do good in business while still doing well? Stephen Bronfman seems to think so. Despite the quasi-regal implications of his last name – Bronfman is the last male of his family to have remained in his ancestral city – a simple Google search will show that Mr. Bronfman proudly figures more prominently on the charity circuits of Montreal than alongside his peers in investment land.
Bronfman graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts in 1986 and following a brief stint in the marketing department of the then-Bronfman-owned Montreal Expos, he joined Claridge and patiently moved his way up to the helm. Since taking over Claridge in 1997, Bronfman has overseen interests ranging from sports and entertainment to, most recently, organic foods.
However, Stephen Bronfman would likely tell you that he is most proud of his roles as board member of the David Suzuki Foundation, Governor of the Jewish General Hospital, and President of the Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family Foundation and Stephen R. Bronfman Foundation. Stephen Bronfman has accomplished the enviable; successfully overshadowing good business with a healthy amount of good.
