Conference: Heads up on the Concussion Issue (Montreal Neurological Institute)

Friday, January 27, 2017
7 PM to 9 PM

McGill University and the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (The Neuro) is hosting a public lecture and poster session in support of concussion research. The expert-led public lecture and panel discussion will focus on the topic of concussions. While concussions are prevalent in professional sports, they can happen to people of all ages in everyday situations, and as such, are of concern to all. HEADS UP will raise public awareness about, and raise funds for, concussion research.

Under the guidance of Dr. Ptito (Neuropsychologist and Director, Department of Psychology, McGill University Health Center Professor, Neurology/Neurosurgery, McGill University and Montreal Neurological Institute) at The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital of McGill University, contributions will provide the means to better understand the imbalance that occurs in the brain due to head trauma. Support will also help advance research to more effectively diagnose a concussion, assess its effects, form a treatment plan, and make a more informed 'return to play' recommendation.

Hosted by: Alexandre Despatie, world champion diver and broadcaster. Concussion sufferer.

Guest keynote speakers: Ken Dryden, former goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Hall of Famer.

Dr. J. Scott Delaney, MUHC medical expert and team physician Montreal Alouettes and the Montreal Impact.

And exciting guest panelists.
