Sacred Space: How a benefit corporation is repurposing a church fusing business and community development.
Benefit Corporations (B Corps) are profit-generating companies committed to solving social and environmental problems through commerce. By voluntarily meeting higher standards of transparency, accountability, and performance, certified B Corps offer a compelling alternative to traditional business models and a positive vision for business that creates value for employees, investors, and the communities they call 'home'.
Join Ms. Natalie Voland, McGill BA'95, BSW'99, as she describes her B Corps, Gestion immobilière Quo Vadis, and its design-centred philosophy for real estate development and property management. As a concrete example, she will present how her company is working with community organizations, social enterprises, government, and McGill University to transform l'Église St-Joseph into a hub for social innovation and entrepreneurship within le Quartier de l'innovation, located in the south-west of Montreal.
In recent years many beautiful and historically significant churches have closed their doors due to lack of funds for upkeep. Natalie's B Corps is working with McGill to breathe new life into l'Église St-Joseph by bringing new business ventures into the neighbourhood while maintaining St-Joseph's original purpose as a place for community, education, and collaboration.
No charge but registration is required. Maximum of four tickets.
