Find out the real science behind alarming headlines from the Director of McGill's Office for Science and Society - right here in London!
Almost every day, we hear a different news report citing some sort of dubious science. What's real and what's not? Dr. Joe Schwarcz has been helping to separate science from nonsense for many years.
"Dr. Joe" is the Director of McGill's Office for Science and Society, which engages the public in science in insightful and entertaining ways - whether it's exposing pseudo-science with hard facts or demonstrating the magic that can be produced with a little knowledge of chemistry. He is also a celebrated radio host, columnist, and bestselling author who can be seen in regular appearances on the Discovery Channel.
On April 8, join McGill alumni and friends at the beautiful and historic Royal Institution - itself at the forefront of public engagement with science - for a great talk about real and junk science. Find out what rigorous scientific studies have to say about some of the most controversial subjects in today's headlines.
Dr. Joe will offer his expert insight into scientific controversies and breakthroughs, and he'll explain how to tell scientific fact from fiction.
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.: cocktail reception, mingling
7:30 - 8:30 p.m.: lecture with Q&A
