Cocktail Reception with Special Presentation (Faculty of Agr&Env -- General)

Monday, November 4, 2013
5:30 PM to 7 PM

Please join us for a cocktail reception with a special presentation on "Sustainable Energy for the Future".

Fossil fuels are a non-renewable resource that seems likely to become limiting to human activities sometime during the first half of this century. At the same time, the combustion of fossil fuels is causing a steady increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, contributing to changes in global climate and related phenomena, such as sea level rise.

There is a compelling need to find alternative energy sources that are both renewable and sustainable. Properly done advanced biofuels is a possible contributor to the long-term energy solution and Canada has considerable per capita biomass resources to facilitate this.

Presentation presented by:
Professor Donald L. Smith,
Director and CEO, BiofuelNet Canada
Director, McGill Network for Innovation in Biofuels and Bioproducts
Director, Eastern Canada Oilseed Initiative
